i think i should have made something explicit: i feel these kind of statements are written on purpose...it's one thing to have some innocently wrong piece going through...but these kind of articles are on purpose, IMO...wanting to promote some kind of thinking among the reading public, who like you hint, may not even notice - but i feel may sub-consciously internalize...

Do you think it is right to judge the state of mind of the whole society by what one journalist thinks and writes? I am sure only a handful of the readers of ToI would have noticed what you have highlighted. I am also sure that this journalist would have written this statement only to present a so called 'secular' thought. For example NDTV's Barkha Dutt was all out cornering Anna and his team during the recent movement... but did we get influenced by all her actions? No. Even on twitter, she was actively siding with the government but she could not influence us at all.

We are, I guess, moving from the 'Literate' to 'Intelligent' society and like you commented on my blog, in next 100 years, hopefully, we will be there...
